Zea Mays Printmaking/Beginning Screen Printing

Beginning Screen Printing

Screen printing is a direct method of printmaking that doesn’t require a press or an extensive investment in equipment. You can print everything from bold graphics to subtle transparencies with ease and speed. This tutorial will teach you all you need to know to begin making screen prints on paper in your home studio.

You’ll learn how to choose a screen, prepare it for printing and set up a foolproof registration system. Experienced screen printer Jenny Gover will share three techniques for image making: paper stencils, drawing fluid applications and watercolor monotype. Each method gives different results and can be used in combination with one another. The tutorial is rich with tips on ergonomic printing set ups, ink selection and color mixing, multiple layer printing and easy clean up.

Get inspired and acquire the skills you need to enrich your screen printing practice!
